The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
I love Christmas time. My phrase for the week for everything that has happened to me has been, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” I love everything about Christmas, I love spending time with family, watching classic Christmas movies, and I love Christmas music both the very traditional and new Christmas music. I think what I love most about Christmas time is seeing the body of Christ come together to celebrate what God has done in our lives. We celebrate the birth of our Savior and Lord and we celebrate the great things that God has done in our lives. Christmas time seems to be the best time to rally around the cause of Christ and share His love with those around us and even across the world.
Here are a few of examples of how this local body of Christ known as First Baptist Dandridge is sharing the love of Christ.
Over the past few weeks we have been collecting shoe boxes full of toys, candy, personal items, etc… for children whom we have never met. Operation Christmas child is an organization that provides Christmas to children in countries across the globe and they share the love of Christ through the shoe boxes and through the story of how Jesus came to earth to die for them. FBC collected 82 boxes that will impact children all over the world.
On a more local note we have had the opportunity to help families in Jefferson County have a better Christmas season by providing sugar that will go in food boxes for families in our area. As I write this FBC has donated 210 bags of sugar to help these families this season.
And finally a way that our church can help spread and shares the message of Christ and His love is through the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. The goal for this year is going to be $52,500, which I know is going to be a big sacrifice, but I know it is going to be money that God is going to take and use around the globe to impact the world for Christ. This offering supports the many missionaries throughout the world.
This truly is the most wonderful time of the year because it reminds all of us in the body of Christ of the mission that he has called each and everyone of too, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
